5G technology system could enter on the market somewhere in the early 2020s. Industry reports that already appeared in Japan and they begun testing the 5G technology.
The infrastructure is almost ready by telecom giants such as Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Fujitsu, NEC and Nokia, and no mobile phone manufacturers such as Samsung do not sit idly by, already preparing 5G enabled handset. Tests are carried out within the research center in Japan NTT DoCoMo, external tests are scheduled to start by the beginning of 2015.
Beyond the huge speed in terms of data transfer that would require a 5G technology speeds up to 10 Gbps, working frequency in which this technology would work in bands above 6 GHz. For comparison, the 1G system operates in bands up to 30 kHz, 200 kHz to 2G, 3G bands up to 20 MHz and most recently, 4G, up to 100 Mhz, offering speeds up to 1 Gbps.
Experts say, however, that beyond the speed with which data could be transferred with the implementation of large-scale 5G technology should bring any advantages over current systems:
– a greater number of devices connected simultaneously to the same antenna;
– a high efficiency along with lower power consumption, better coverage of terrestrial surfaces
– very small dormant and higher speeds in areas more extensive coverage.
